Wayne C. Schrader, O.D.

Dr. Wayne Schrader has been practicing optometry in Davis for over 30 years. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and reared in California, Dr. Schrader graduated from Aragon High School in San Mateo. He then attended the University of California, Davis, where he graduated with a degree in Zoology in 1969. Dr. Schrader then continued his studies at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry, receiving his Doctorate of Optometry in 1974. Upon graduating, he served as a resident and clinical instructor at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada specializing in binocular vision and contact lenses.

In 1975, Dr. Schrader returned to Davis where he joined the practice of Drs. William Harrison and Victor Lim. Today, after 30 years, he continues the practice under his name. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association and the Sacramento Valley Optometric Association.

Outside of his practice, Dr. Schrader believes in giving back to the community. He has been a long-time member of the U.C. Davis Cal Aggie Alumni Association, serving on its Board of Directors for two years. He has also been a long-time member of the Cal Aggie Booster Club, a support group for U. C. Davis Athletics. He served as the club president for two years.

He has been a member of the Davis Rotary Club since 1985, serving as President in 1994-95. He helped start and continues to run the Rotary Club’s Vision Project which is designed to provide eye care for school children who otherwise could not afford it. He has also been active in the Rotary International Youth Exchange Program, serving as a counselor to high school aged students who come from other countries to spend a year in the United States.

He has also served on the Board of Directors for the Davis School Arts Foundation and the International House.

Dr. Schrader is very grateful that he has had the opportunity to provide vision care to the Davis and surrounding communities.



Shea M. Patrick, O.D.

Dr. Shea Patrick grew up in Concord and graduated from Concord High School. She earned her B.S. degree in Biology from the University of California, Davis. It is in Davis where she met Dr. Schrader and became his intern for a quarter. She worked in the practice for another quarter before graduating from UCD. She moved to Bloomington, Indiana and received her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University. Dr. Patrick spent three months of her training in Guanajuato, Mexico seeing patients from an indigent population and becoming fluent in Spanish. She spent another three months of her training in Grand Rapids, Michigan seeing patients with varying degrees of autism, learning disabilities, or histories of brain trauma. Vision therapy was done with the patients to improve their visual systems and function. She has also worked in two ophthalmology practices that specialized in cataract surgery, laser vision correction, and ocular disease, including glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Dr. Patrick is a member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Sacramento Valley Optometric Association. She attends many courses and continuing education classes throughout the year and is licensed to the full extent of the optometric law, including the ability to prescribe diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. Dr. Patrick manages LASIK and post-operative cataract patients as well. Outside of the office, Dr. Patrick enjoys spending time with family, mountain biking, kickboxing, fishing, traveling, and the outdoors.

Dr. Patrick is excited to be back in Davis providing vision care to the Davis and surrounding communities.
